Another busy week.  The class worked and finished the Math Pattern Books this week, ending this unit with beaded necklaces in a pattern of their choosing.  I asked the children to challenge themselves, and so there were ABC, ABCD, and ABCDEF patterns.  One child even made an ABCABCDE repeat!  This was a very enjoyable unit, and the children did an excellent job with it.  Next in math is learning to write numbers correctly, focusing particularly on 0-20.

We also finished reading Charlotte’s Web

.  After a review of the book, each child drew their favorite scene and wrote about it.  We’ll start a new chapter book next week.  Charlotte’s Web was such a hit that I’m thinking about sticking with E.B. White for another story, perhaps Stuart Little

….. but we’ll see.  There are so many other chapter books to enjoy as well!

November brings a focus on families, with an emphasis on the Thanksgiving tradition, as well as the history behind it.  We will learn a little about the Wampanoag tribe that lived in these parts, and take a trip to the Dakota restaurant the first week in December to see their excellent collection of Native American artifacts.  We’ll also create and share a Friendship Lunch with Preschool, as well as take part in BCD’s beloved Thanksgiving Soup.

It was wonderful to see just about all of you this week at Parent-Teacher conferences.  I truly enjoy the opportunity to focus in on each student during conferences.  It is a pleasure and privilege to teach your children.  They are a great group!

Have a wonderful weekend.
