Individualized Education

On our 26 acre campus, children learn alongside running streams, in a natural habitat with wooded trails, our pond and on our multiple fields. Our classrooms are warm and welcoming helping to instill a lifelong love of learning. We not only provide your child an individualized education that plays to their strengths, we offer a close-knit community for our families.

At BCD, we nurture the personal relationships between teachers and students, students and their peers and administration and families. Our goal is for our graduates to both fit-in and stand-out as healthy, confident young adults who believe their voices matter. We give students the tools to communicate, think critically and act positively. Our graduates are sought out by the most prestigious independent schools in the country or join honors programs at competitive area high schools. Our Alumni regularly credits their experience at BCD in helping to build the foundation for their future success.

“The three reasons we chose BCD are for the boys to develop strong analytical skills, good writing habits, and strong study skills.”

Ted Glockner '82 & Jen Glockner, P '23

“Equal appreciation for different components of the child beyond academics like Math and Science, BCD also offers exposure to the Arts and Music. Beautiful Campus, with access to nature. Great community for the whole family to belong to.”

Andy & Katie Huh, P '29, '31

“At BCD, we’ve found an outstanding learning environment for our daughter. She is inspired by her teachers, and their ability to focus on her learning needs in a small class-size environment is a huge improvement from her prior school. The campus is beautiful, spacious, and highly functional, and our daughter particularly likes changing classrooms for each subject in the Upper School. The combination of traditional New England preparatory school and progressive, open-minded learning environment that encourages student self-awareness is, we feel, a winning one!”

Josh Flax & Kate Anderson, P '25

“We have had three kids at BCD, and both they and we absolutely love the school.   It has this perfect combination of a rigorous course of study and a warm and supportive environment.  We feel it has given, and continues to give, our children excellent, advanced education without being a pressure cooker.”

Alexander & Valentina Shaknes, P '21, '23, '26

“We originally chose Berkshire Country Day School for one of our children because they were having such a hard time in their other school, for multiple reasons.  BCD has done an amazing job of meeting them where they were, and helping them blossom wonderfully.  BCD has both helped challenge and teach them in areas where it was needed, yet also worked to lift them up and support them in other areas as well.

We had seen so much of an improvement, both mentally and academically in that child, that our youngest child now also attends BCD.  They were quite nervous about changing schools and were unsure about our decision.  Yet their fears were allayed on their very first day, and now our youngest looks forward to school again and is also thriving.

We very much love the teachers and staff, who have all been quite caring and accommodating. Their inclusiveness, support, as well as a guidance towards a real sense of community is above and beyond what was expected.”

An added bonus in our eyes is the amount of time the students get to move their bodies and also learn outdoors, no matter the weather! The campus is gorgeous and is taken advantage of often, be it recess, Outdoor Ed, after school activities, or just getting to and from their different classes.

Thank you for all you do, Berkshire Country Day School!”
