It was an absolute delight to take part in this year’s Alaska Day. With hardly a trace of snow in sight, our Lower School teachers and Parents’ Association pulled off an event to remember! Students traveled in mixed-age groups through craft and science activity stations that brought a little bit of Alaska to the BCD campus.
- Mrs. Romano helped students build Inuksuk structures, similar to the stone mounds that serve as landmarks to guide people in the Arctic region.
- Mrs. Patel facilitated a totem station in which the students learned how totem poles are used to share important stories, then got the chance to make their own.
- Ms. Allentuck and Ms. Lindsay brought blubber science – in all of its gooey, bouncy splendor – to life.
- And finally, the students were treated to special treat at pond-side. Who doesn’t love a bonfire with s’mores?
