Greetings to all and Happy Spring!
The class has enjoyed listening to all the wonderful journal writing that came back after Spring Break. The photos and souveneirs added some color to the words. I have encouraged the students to continue writing in them at home. This week’s spelling words (sufixes) are on Spelling City. Quiz is tomorrow morning.
In math class we have begun our study of geometry and shapes. Some new terms are congruency, symmetry, plane and solid figures, vertices and edges. We also did some ‘Mayan Math’ which uses a different number system. Those worksheets should be in this week’s work packets.
In Social Studies the students are close to deciding on a topic to report on about Mexican culture. The final reports will be presented during our Mexican Fiesta celebration on Friday, May 2nd. You will be hearing from our class parents soon who will be looking for contributions of Mexican food for that day.
This Friday is a Pizza Friday. We are also going to have a small celebration for the birthday of Puffy, a (somewhat imaginary) pencil and for Lyle’s cast finally coming off!
A new book report assignment went home yesterday and it is scanned below. As always, they know to check the book selection with me first. Thank you in advance for your help with suggestions about who to write their letter to and for the addressed envelope.
Some important upcoming dates are listed below:
Friday, April 11 Pizza Friday
Friday, April 18 No School – Good Friday
Monday, April 21 No School – Patriot’s Day
Friday, April 25 Class trip to Mass MoCA w/Mrs. Cromwell
Friday, May 2nd Mexican Fiesta Celebration
Enjoy what I hear is going to a warm and delightful weekend,
Best, Katharine
