We’ve had two very full, very fun weeks together.  Highlights follow:

On Tuesday of this past week, we went to the Berkshire Museum to visit their Aquarium.  The class was excited to see all the tanks and took special interest in the piranhas and the poisonous lion fish.  Anyone who wanted to hold a starfish or touch the horseshoe crab had the opportunity to do so.  The class was well-prepared and the docent remarked that he was impressed with what they knew.  Many thanks to Rochelle and Renee (Gracie’s babysitter) for accompanying us!

On Wednesday we had a great Lunch Bunch, courtesy of Hayley and her mom Jessica.  The meal included pasta with cheese or sauce, carrots and dip, and brownies.  These favorite kindergarten foods were a big hit!  Thank you, Jessica, for making such a yummy lunch.

We also had the opportunity to taste sap this week.  Over the weekend, Jamie spent time with his dad tapping the trees on their property, and Courtney sent in a jar of the sap they collected.  It tasted watery but sweet, and all agreed that, while it was good, maple syrup was even better!

Last week we had Peer Readers with the Third Grade.  We will have more sessions when we return from the break.  The class loved having the bigger kids read to them.

We had a very special Lunch Bunch last week, as Ryan’s mom Theresa invited all of us to her restaurant in Stockbridge!  Our kindergarten cooks first donned personalized chef hats and aprons to help mix pizza dough in an 80 quart mixer.  They then were able to roll out their own dough, choose their toppings, and off into the oven they went.  When they were done, they got to eat their delicious creations!  And dessert was incredible – a chocolate fountain, into which all sorts of yummy things could be dunked.  It was truly an amazing trip, and we thank Theresa and Joe for allowing the children to come and visit.  Thanks also go out to Cara and Jenny, who were the lucky chaperones!

It was wonderful to meet with all of you last week at Parent-Teacher conferences.  Thank you for sharing your thoughts, questions, suggestions, and most importantly, your children with me.  What a great group we have this year!

I wish all of you a happy, healthy and relaxing break.  I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday, March 30.  There is no school on Monday, March 29 (Professional Development Day for teachers) or on Friday, April 2, (Good Friday,) so our first week back will be a short one.  Have a wonderful vacation!
