BCD parent Tina Petricca is organizing a sewing party for this Saturday, January 23 from 10-4 in Fitzpatrick Hall, calling all Upper School students (grades 7-9) and their parents to participate in a project to sew receiving blankets for the relief efforts taking place in Haiti.

In 2004, Tina organized a similar effort among the then seventh grade students and their parents, and their handmade receiving blankets were shipped all over the world to countries in need, including Haiti.

We need your help to make this effort successful. We need:

  1. Donations of (cotton) fabric – the more fabric we have the more blankets we can make!
  2. Donations of pins, thread, sewing machines, irons, ironing boards
  3. Parent volunteers to teach students how to sew and who can help sew
  4. Volunteers to bring in snacks for the participants

Please consider how you can participate in this important effort. Contact Tina Petricca at [email protected] if you are able to come on Saturday (please, only 7-9 grade students and their parents) and or if you are able to make a donation of the much needed items listed above.
