As we enter the final weeks of school, our students embark on numerous culminating presentations, final projects and final examinations. It is during moments like our ninth graders’ World Language Capstone Presentations and the History class final paper and oral defenses that we witness our students truly shine–each the product of  years of  work honing their skills, gaining their confidence and sharing their knowledge gained eloquently and with great confidence. It all starts at an early age at BCD as we can see in the following snapshots of our students’ recent work.

Lorax

The Kindergarten and First Grade lit up the stage with a terrific rendition of The Lorax. This collaborative project leads our students into continued shared work, together in the upcoming vertical classroom for Grades 1 and 2 this fall. The excitement is palpable!

Tree 2

Science teacher Jenney Maloy invited the Lenox Garden Club to campus. The club donated three beautiful trees which were planted near our playground. Members of the club worked with students in Preschool and Kindergarten to create flags to hang around the trees so that they would be protected from running children and flying objects! Thank you, Lenox Garden Club.

The Fifth Grade Civilization Showcase; a creating writing project which links directly to their study of ancient civilizations. Dr. Lederman explains, “Following  in the rich and diverse traditions of Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, China, Greece and Rome, each student crafted a written piece that explores the geography, language, social structure/government, food, folklore, religion and mythology of the civilization. Students wrote a paper and created a presentation of models and artifacts to demonstrate what daily life was like in their civilizations.”
