Second graders first visit to the library was marked with enthusiasm and excitement. Students were eager to share their favorite books, and hopes for their library experience this year.
In celebration of Roald Dahl’s birthday today (the author died in 1990), we explored some photos of the author and displayed his books, including Matilda, James and the Giant Peach, The BFG and the ubiquitous, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Then, we began our read-aloud of his short novel, The Twits, a hilarious and eyebrow- raising story about a trickster couple and their attempts to outwit one another. Next, week we’ll continue our journey, highlighting Dahl’s neologisms (made-up words) along the way. Sounds like a real whangdoodle! Or maybe a snozzcumber!
