On Tuesday, November 23rd, the B3s, Pre K and Kindergarten packed up all of the food collected during our Food Drive into plastic grocery bags.  The children carried all of the food out to the wall, where Lyle’s mom, Emily, was waiting with the trunk of her van open.  Everyone made many trips out to the van, as we had so much food for the Food Banks.  The children were very happy to help!  Over the break, Emily and Lyle brought the donations to the food pantries at the United Methodist Church of Lenox and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Stockbridge.  Pre K, alone, collected over 200 pounds of food!  Thank you so much.

Later that day, we joined the rest of the school and other members of our community for BCD’s Thanksgiving Soup.  This was the 28th annual soup day.  Before we supped on soup, 20 BCD students spoke the phrase: “May Peace Prevail on Earth,” in 20 different languages.  All of the languages spoken were from each of their heritages.  Some spoke in their native languages.  It was a very moving and important presentation.  The children had a great time searching the soup for orzo.  We also found carrots, celery, zucchini and tomatoes.  Nearly everyone took one or two sips.  We must admit, the rolls and butter were outstanding.  We also enjoyed apples and clementines for dessert.

We are thankful for the many hands that helped with this special day.  We are also thankful that we belong to this wonderful community!
