Preschoolers made two new friends today in the library. Lola is an energetic, imaginative little girl; Charlie is a patient and kind older brother always willing to help Lola learn and grow. Charlie and Lola are characters created by award-winning author Lauren Child, featured in a series of books by the same name. After sharing I Will Never, Not EVER, Eat a Tomato, we chuckled at each students’ list of things that s/he will NEVER eat. Next, we read I Am Absolutely TOO Small for School, and made a list of all the things we are too small to do. As you can imagine, we generated a very creative list! Lauren Child’s books based on Lola and Charlie are geared for ages 3-7, but delight readers of all ages. (And from the adult point of view, they are fun to read). These books are readily available everywhere and this group LOVED them!
