Today in the library, Pre-K explored some books about teachers and schools. We began by sharing, “Don’t Eat the Teacher,” by Nick Ward in which a young shark names Sammy learns some self-control on the first day of school. This book reminds us that even when we get excited, we have to stay in control of our bodies…and most importantly, don’t eat the teacher! We also enjoyed Carmen Agra Deedy’s The Library Dragon. With illustrations by Michael P. White, this story crafts the tale of a selfish librarian who hoards the books and intimidates the children until one brave girl named Molly Brickmeyer is able to convey the joy of reading to her. As a result, the dragon sheds her fiery scales and become a story-telling savior of the books. We concluded with book browsing and checkout. Happy Reading!
