Hi Everyone,
We had a great time celebrating Halloween, even though it was a day late. Thank you to everyone for sending apples and treats. We would also like to thank Sadie’s family for sending macaroni and cheese. After singing our Halloween songs and reciting our Halloween poems, we paraded around the campus to show off our costumes. Instead of our usual group of friends, we had a UPS Man, a lion, Thomas the Tank Engine, a Bumble Bee, Batman, Spider Man, a ballerina elephant, a purple tabby cat and a Red Angry Bird. There was also a tree and a scary witch. We returned to the class for a Halloween story and some treats. Earlier in the morning, the children helped Mrs. Cooke put apples through her juicer to make apple juice for our snack. It was very sweet! The children thought it was fun to have French and Music in their costumes, as well.
When we went out to the playground with Kindergarten, someone noticed something orange and glittery in the apple tree. It was a statue of The Pumpkin Fairy holding a note written on a pumpkin! She couldn’t be with us on Halloween because of the rain and windy weather. She claimed that it was very difficult to fly. So she said that if we all took a walk together, we might discover a special treat she had left behind for us. Some of the Kindergarten children remembered the Pumpkin Fairy from last year. They remembered that she left us all little pumpkins, so we set out on a walk in search of pumpkins. We finally decided to go back to the playground, via the BCD garden and do some more thinking about where they could be. Lo and behold, when we rounded the corner of Fitzpatrick, there they were, scattered around the garden. She left a special pumpkin for each child. Everyone agreed that we should leave something special for her in return. Some children suggested drawing her pictures and someone thought we should maker her a pumpkin pie! Well, she is off again until next year. Be well, Pumpkin Fairy and thank you for the magic pumpkins.
On Friday we made applesauce with the leftover apples from Halloween. Next week we will meet Harry Hat Man and begin talking about food groups, where food comes from and why it is so important for our bodies.
Important Reminders:
- Preschool goes outdoors each day. Please be sure children have sweaters or coats as the mornings are often chilly.
- Please replenish extra clothes when necessary. Children should have a full set of clothing, including socks, undergarments, shirts and pants.
- Leaving a sweatshirt or sweater for days that may be chilly indoors may help your child feel more comfortable.
- Please be sure to send in a refillable drink container for us to fill with water. In our efforts to be green, we try to refrain from using plastic cups.
- Please be sure to send appropriate flatware in your child’s lunch.
- Including a variety of snack items is encouraged for young growing children.
- If your child needs to have an item warmed up, please be sure it is in a microwave safe container.
- Leaving an extra pair of sneakers or other shoes in school is a good idea.
