Hi Everyone,
What a week in Pre K! Monday and Tuesday of this week we were busy little beavers preparing for our Mommies’ Day Breakfast. On Wednesday, we ventured out in the rain to Hancock Shaker Village with the Beginner 3s and Kindergarten to see the baby animals. Thank you to parents who were able to join us as chaperons. We saw baby calves, piglets, chicks, ducklings and lambs to name just a few. We were very lucky to have Mr. B. drive the bus for us, as he also drove Miss Guerette around in a wheelchair! For those of you who may not be aware, Miss G. is sporting a pink cast on her right ankle for a couple of weeks. The children have been very compassionate and helpful to her when she needs assistance.
On Thursday, we held our annual Mommies’ Day Breakfast. The children made Raspberry, Apple Cinnamon and Corn Muffins. We also served Croissants, chocolate muffins, oranges, bananas, melon and strawberries, along with juice, milk, tea and coffee. The children presented their mothers with crowns, a beaded necklace, a home made placemat decorated with a portrait of each child with his or her mother, and a painted wooden flower frame. The children really enjoyed spending extra time with their moms in the classroom.
On Friday, we celebrated Gabrielle’s Star Day. Joining us for her special Morning Meeting, were her mom, Kate, dad, Nigel, and her older sister, Elizabeth. Gabrielle’s Star Board was decorated with lots of photos of her growing up and photos of her family. We also saw photos of her swimming in Florida at the ocean; Gabrielle riding a scooter in a tu-tu; and Gabrielle’s grandmothers. We learned that when she was a baby, she liked to dance. Now that she is older, she enjoys coloring, playing outdoors and playing imaginary games. Gabrielle’s favorite foods are berries and spaghetti. Gabrielle brought two books to share, Abuela, by Arthur Dorros and Elisa Kleven and If You Take a Mouse to School, by Laura Numeroff and Felicia Bond. For snack, Gabrielle brought strawberries and brownies! Thank you so much and Happy Star Day, Gabrielle!
Also, on Friday, we performed in our very first concert with Lower School. The children have been working very hard with Mrs. Hilliard and Madame Whalen to prepare for this special event. Would you ever imagine that their first performance would be a French song? It was a wonderful event! Congratulations to all of our Preschool friends.
