Dear Parents,
As you can see from the videos attached below, the class really rose to the occasion for their Poetry Cafe. We will repeat some of what we learned for visiting Grandparents next week.
We had a ‘dress rehearsal’ spelling quiz this morning. Next week will be our first 2nd grade list. The students will get two lists on Monday, one for home and one that stays in school. Mrs. Clausen and I will work on the phonetic approach to the words during the next two weeks in Reading class along with other comprehension work (/y/ as a vowel). Our next spelling quiz will be on Friday, October 18th.
Our first Book Report is due on Thursday, October 31. In a second blog I have scanned the assignment in case it gets lost in the shuffle. This week and next we will finalize which book to choose, giving them time to read it and complete the report, and yes, answers should be in complete sentences!
In Math class we will be moving on from Fact Families and general numeracy to fractions on Wednesday.
We’re looking forward to welcoming family and friends to school next Friday.
