The BCD community banded together for a great cause!

Under the direction of the PA and with leadership of parent Mayra Rodiguez, BCD participated in Make a Difference Day on Saturday, Oct. 28 to help our brothers and sisters in Puerto Rico.  Parents, teachers, administrators and most importantly, a lot of students, gathered together to box up items collected during the week to ship to people struggling to survive in Puerto Rico in the midst of Hurricane Maria’s devastation. We sent loads of much-needed food, batteries, and sanitizer along with beautifully rendered artwork and thoughtful notes from our students. Altogether, we filled and addressed 78 large boxes of supplies. We were a joyful and industrious bunch—younger students filled boxes, older students addressed shipping labels, adults taped up boxes and everyone participated in some heavy lifting. Many thanks to everyone who helped to organize the day, donated items in advance and showed up to put it all together. Making a difference feels great!

The BCD PA is having a meeting this Friday, November 17. Please join at 8:15am in the Hosokawa Distance Learning Lab of the Kevin Hirt Library and Learning Commons. We will be discussing upcoming PA-sponsored events, including Thanksgiving Soup, the Book Fair and the Holiday Drive.

We hope to see you all there!
