We have been busy in kindergarten.   Last week we went on a great trip to the Berkshire Museum.  The class really enjoyed seeing the piranhas, seahorses, turtles, and the glow-in-the-dark scorpion, and they liked touching the sea urchins, starfish, and horseshoe crabs in the tide pool. Later that week, the class wrote on their experiences there.  Thank you to Alex Ciejek and Deb Jaferian, who accompanied us on this trip.  We had a great time!

We’ve celebrated two birthdays in the last month.  Lilah turned six on April 6, and Isaac on April 15.  Joining Lilah in the classroom were her parents, Tom and Wendy, and big brother Charlie (5th grade).  The class listened to a story about a mermaid with wonderful, lavish illustrations, and enjoyed meringues together afterward.  For Isaac’s birthday, his parents, Juliane and David, and two brothers, Jack (third grade) and Davey (PreK) were able to join us.  We heard two stories, the first a very funny Mo Willems tale, and the other a story about Shabbat.  Ice cream was enjoyed by all at the conclusion of lunch.  Thank you, O’Neils and Haim and Scribner families, for such fun birthday celebrations!

It was great to meet with so many of you yesterday for conferences.  This has been a spectacular year with your children.  I thank you all for your feedback yesterday, and look forward to the remainder of the year with this wonderful class.

We had our last Lunch Bunch last week, sponsored by the Alshamekh, Hearst, and Woodruff/Miller families.  It was a great success, with both traditional American food (grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup) and Saudi Arabian food (a wonderful dessert made with sweetened feta cheese and flaky pastry.)   Thank you to all involved for this this delicious meal, and a big thank you for Deb and Wendy, who coordinated all of our Lunch Bunch meals this year.  We’ve enjoyed each and every one!

Spring weather has been teasing us, and we’ve been going outside as much as we can.  Yesterday, in the space of 40 minutes, we played in a light sprinkling rain, momentary snow flurries, a huge, wild wind, and, eventually, sunshine!  Please check your child’s extra clothing bag, and update as needed for this crazy variety of weather.  Thank you!

Please remember that the K to Grade 1 transition meeting will take place this Wednesday, April 27 at 8:15 AM. This meeting, given by Mrs. Frantz, is for parents only and will contain important information about next year.
