Another great week.  Our highlights:  On Thursday, we knew something special was in store when Keely walked in wearing traditional clothes from Ethiopia.  In the afternoon, Rochelle came to share some information with us.  She talked about meeting Keely and  a little about her adoption process.  Rochelle also brought beautiful weavings and other examples of traditional clothing to show us, as well as a book written in Amharic, and Ethiopian spices for us to smell.  Keely showed us some of her photographs from when she lived there.  It was a wonderul learning experience and we thank Rochelle and Keely for sharing some of Keely’s cultural heritage with us.

On Wednesday, we had “Breakfast for Lunch”!  Chase’s mom and dad came in and served orange juice, pancakes with maple syrup, bacon, fruit kebabs, and oatmeal raisin cookies.  I’m not sure I’ve ever seen the children eat quite so much at one sitting – some downed 4 or 5 pancakes alone!  Thank you, Cara and Lance, for such a fun Lunch BRunch!

Please mark your calendars for two events:  on Wednesday, April 28, at 8:15 am, Mrs. Frantz will present the Kindergarten to First Grade transition meeting.  And then there is the Not-To-Be-Missed Kindergarten Poetry Assembly on Friday, May 14 at 11:00. Grandparents and special friends are welcome, too.  This will be followed by a Potluck Lunch for all.

Next week is Arts Week at BCD.  The school-wide art show will kick off on Tuesday, from 5:00-7:00.  Artwork will be on display in the gym all week.

Just a reminder that book orders are due back next TUESDAY, April 20.

Enjoy the long weekend!
