What a great two weeks… today ended with a spectacular Music Assembly! From the three-year-old class through the third grade, everyone had a chance to perform. The Kindergarten made their debut with a French song entitled “Rouge, Se Promene.” It was a wonderful concert, with songs from all around the world.
We had a fun trip to Hancock Shaker Village earlier in the week. Many thanks to Ken and Alex, who accompanied us. Although the weather didn’t cooperate, the children still had a great time petting the animals and playing in the Discovery Room. Children were able to try on Shaker clothing, weave on a loom, observe bees making honey, and “milk” a cow. We had a super time.
The children have made – shhh! – surprise gifts for their mothers for Mother’s Day. Don’t open until Sunday! I hope you enjoy them – lots of love went into their creation!
Other things we’ve done in the last two weeks: we went to the 7th Grade Science Fair, we read a book called Not a Box and wrote and drew our response to that, we began the Farm unit (and there is at least one person who thinks that’s mooovelous!), and we’ve been reciting and dramatizing our poems. The class is working very hard as we move towards our Poetry Assembly. I will send out an email tonight or tomorrow detailing costume requests. I have many things here, but will need to borrow a few items from you. And of course, we’re doing our regular language arts and math curriculum work. Is it ever boring in Kindergarten? Never!
Happy Mother’s Day to all moms, and have a great weekend, everyone.
