How nice it was to feel the sun this week! We are ready for Spring! Despite some chilly mornings, we thoroughly enjoyed getting outside this week, running on the playground, and discovering small crocuses and the green shoots of daffodils on the playground. It’s been fun!
The sign-up for conferences will be posted online beginning Monday, April 11. There will be no sign-up in the classroom (my mistake). If you have any trouble accessing the site, please let me know.
Please mark your calendars for the K to Grade 1 transition meeting on Wednesday, April 27 at 8:15 AM. This meeting, given by Mrs. Frantz, is for parents only and will contain important information about next year.
We continue with our study of the ocean. Our classroom now has beautiful jellyfish hanging from the ceilings and decorative accordian-pleated fish. As soon as we have enough shoeboxes, we’ll begin our ocean dioramas. (If you have any shoe boxes to spare, please send them in this week. Thank you!)
We continue to make good progress in language arts. This week we acquired our second vowel, short /i/. Learning to differentiate between the short vowels sounds is especially tricky, so we’ve been spending some time listening to the two sounds in different words and trying to differentiate between them. We’re also working on segmenting single words into two or three sounds.
Our cardboard house was a huge hit. Everyone enjoyed helping to build it and it was THE place to be during free choice time!
