This week in the library, Kindergarten considered whether people can change. In The Enchanted Flute by Angela McAllister, a persnickety queen gives her daughter a magic flute for a birthday present and discovers the truth about herself. With whimsical illustrations by Margaret Chamberlain, this story has undertones of the traditional fairy tale, The Emperor’s New Clothes and reminds us that we do have the ability to alter our actions and thus, people’s perceptions of us.
