I write to express my sincere gratitude to the many parents who have participated in the Annual Fund this year and to encourage everyone to please help us reach our goal of 100% parent participation before June 30th, 2011.

The Annual Fund is BCD’s yearly appeal to current parents, grandparents, alumni, past parents and friends.  Every independent school has a gap between tuition income and operating expenses.  Every school, whether it has a large endowment or not, relies on an annual appeal to help bridge this gap.  It is important that parents understand that the Annual Fund supports the school’s annual operating budget.  Why is this meaningful?  Because tuition revenues cover only 90% (approximately) of the true cost of educating every student at BCD.  Finally, while reaching our budgeted goal for the Annual Fund is crucial in terms of financial well-being, participation by each current parent is extremely important.  Strong support reinforces a positive attitude among those within the community, and it sends a powerful message to those outside our school regarding BCD’s history, character and mission.  It says: “We care, and we’re proud.”

Thank you again for the many ways you have contributed to BCD during the past year.  The Annual Fund closes on June 30th.  Please help us reach our goal of 100% participation by making a tax-deductible contribution to your school.

Sincerely,

Claire Pollart (parent ’11, ’14)
