For future reference: a link to the Common Sense Media website is provided to the left of my blog. Their mission:
“Common Sense Media is dedicated to improving the lives of kids and families by providing the trustworthy information, education, and independent voice they need to thrive in a world of media and technology. We exist because our nation’s children spend more time with media and digital activities than they do with their families or in school, which profoundly impacts their social, emotional, and physical development . As a non-partisan, not-for-profit organization, we provide trustworthy information and tools, as well as an independent forum, so that families can have a choice and a voice about the media they consume.”

Paul, what a perfect opportunity to remind our community that Dr. Lyn Mikel Brown, author of “Packaging Girlhood: Protecting our Daughters from Marketers’ Schemes” will be speaking on campus this Thursday May 6th at 7:00 p.m. Dr. Brown is an expert on girls and body image, and this is a wonderful opportunity for our broader community to ask questions and gain strategies for helping our daughters gain resilience in the face of media pressures!
Thanks for the timely information.
Thank you so much for bringing attention to such an important problem to BCD.
Dr. Lyn Mikel Brown is a dynamic speaker and educator. We are so fortunate to have her speak to our community. Thank you to all who made this happen! I had the opportunity to meet her in New York, when working with the Dove Self Esteem Fund. If you haven’t seen the videos that address the issue, please take a look on youtube.
Dove “Onslaught” and “Transformation”. Share them with your daughters…
