Fourth Graders are exploring topics in geometry in math. This week, we learned about how to distinguish between figures that are one-dimensional, two-dimensional and three-dimensional. Of particular interest to us are nets, 2-D patterns that are used to create 3-D figures. In class, we made 4 different types of 3-D shapes from nets: a cube, a triangular pyramid, a square pyramid and a pentagonal prism. We compared each in terms of number of faces and the shapes of those faces.
