Congratulations to the Math Department for organizing BCD’s First Annual Pi Day. Members of the department felt that it was time to celebrate the beauty of mathematics and why not a better day than on Albert Einstein’s birthday and Pi Day?

Students in Preschool through Grade 6 engaged in multiple mathematical challenges throughout the morning including creating tessellations and “Pi Ku”. The celebration kicked off with a faculty skit – a rendition of Sir Cumference and the Dragon of Pi. All laughing aside, the celebration ended with a serious contest of students reciting as many calculated digits of Pi as possible. Fifth Grade’s Colby L. was our winner, having memorized over 100 of Pi’s calculated digits!
