Fourth Graders in math are exploring patterns of division. Today students were paired with bags of dried beans and had to determine if amounts of beans (38?54?) were divisible by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9.  Manipulatives are great way for students to engage in VAKT (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, tactile)–the multiple modes of modality that help young learners connect with what they are learning and retain it. Tomorrow, we will finish sorting our beans and see what patterns emerge from our data!
