Today in the library, in honor of our library mascot, Sunny, we began to explore the world of meerkats. We shared two books about these adorable desert dwellers, including Baby Meerkats by Ginjer L. Clarke, one of the beginning readers in the Penguin Classic Series. We learned that meerkats live in desert burrows, eat insects and have predators, including the eagle. We took turns holding Sunny, and learning to be gentle with him as we listen to stories in the library. We concluded book browsing. Happy Reading!
We have a book at home about Meerkats; we’ll fit that into our nightly routine tonight in addition to the library book brought home-maybe that will spark a discussion about the library experience. Often, I get “I don’t want to talk about it,” In relation to the day. Netflix also has a show following meerkats (if anyone is interested in finding materials to relate), which will be fun to watch again too .
Can’t wait to meet Sunny!
