Boo to you!
A spooky good time was had by all this week. We read lots of funny Halloween books and sang lots of not-so-spooky Halloween songs, which were sent home earlier this week. We played outside, just a little as the clouds decided to rain on us most days.
This week our artists made glittery bats. They are ‘hanging around’ in our classroom. We talked about bats and how they fly at night and sleep in the day. Many of the children added belly buttons to their bats. Some are spooky and some are silly, but they all are sparkling! We also made ghosts by coloring on dark constrution paper with white, yellow and pink chalk. The ghosts are haunting our Art area!
On Wednesday our Peer Readers joined us for a Halloween story. Miss Guerette was the reader this week as the children are still getting to know one another. I read Winnie the Witch, by Valerie Thomas and Korky Paul. It is a silly story about a witch and her cat and lots of colors! The Preschool students then showed off their spooky artwork to their peer reading partners. Next time they visit, the second graders will read to us!
Unicef boxes went home this week and are due back by November 5th. Participation is optional. The total amount raised by our BCD community will be announced later this Fall.
Thursday was our spooktacular Preschool Halloween parade and party. We had a pirate, dino, pig, shark, black cat, Harry Potter and me as a bee in our class. The children loved showing off their costumes and talking about their new identities! We then enjoyed a huge yummy snack with fruit and cupcakes and chocolate, and goody pumpkin heads filled with treats. Thanks to everyone who helped make this a memorable and fang-tastic celebration!
