It was meaningful to gather as a community one last time yesterday to celebrate the school year and recognize and thank many of the individuals who did so much to make the past school year meaningful, worthwhile, and fun.  Thank you again, one and all!

I write to extend the thank you’s expressed at yesterday’s assembly to one community member who has worked with purpose, passion, energy, and a belief in all that BCD offers – our new Director of Admission, Alex Heddinger – and to once again ask that everyone engage as partners in spreading the word about BCD.

Throughout the year, Alex has demonstrated her love for people and engagement, organized a series of successful events on and off campus, and welcomed scores of visitors to our campus with a broad smile, open arms, and interest in getting to know them.  She has invested in every aspect of our community; created a fabulous new viewbook; revised our marketing materials and website (and I invite you to review this work); participated as a leading force in architecting and launching several new enrollment strategies; increased attendance at our Little Penguins programs; rallied volunteers, and much, much more.  Thank you, Alex!

As summer can be the busiest time for admissions in the region and with a new two-year-old program and new bus from and to Hudson, Alex needs all of our help this summer.  We ask everyone to authentically and passionately express your BCD stories each and every day.  And, refer everyone to Alex knowing that you are sending them to a talented administrator who will embrace their interest, explorations, and questions with warmth, sincerity, and professionalism.

Draw from the well of memories this year – and the energy shared at yesterday’s closing assembly and community picnic – and spread the good word about our comprehensive academic curriculum, talented and dedicated teachers, amazing arts program, vibrant community, magical and transformed campus, and the outcomes of a BCD education.

We still have a few slots to fill in our new Preschool two-year-old class.  We are thrilled that Julia Kreilkamp will be the lead teacher for this class.  Julia has over twenty years of teaching experience, most recently for ten years as the PreK teacher at the Middletown Springs School in Vermont – when she received the University of Vermont’s Outstanding Teacher Award in 2010.  Julia’s strengths as an educator, teacher, and communicator impress us, and it exciting to imagine the many opportunities that our youngest learners will experience in the hands of this capable and compassionate educator.
