The Sixth Grade is off to a great start at Hulbert Outdoor Center in Fairlee, VT!
Early this morning, as we zipped along the interstate, we were treated to an amazing display of colorful fall foliage. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the friendly Hulbert staff and shown our cabins. We played a few warm-up games and enjoyed a tasty lunch of mac-n-cheese, soup, and salad. Then, split into two groups, we spent the afternoon challenging ourselves to become more group oriented as we took part in several team-building exercises. We’ve already begun to learn the vital importance of communication and advance planning!
We scurried up a steep hill and climbed into a tree-house, where we wrote a contract that spells out some of the things we expect from ourselves and from one another during this trip and throughout the year to come. Kindness, honesty, effort, and respect are chief among them.
As we prepare for dinner, we’re looking forward to this evening’s night journey and to a fun and challenging week to come!
