On Wednesday and Thursday here at Hulbert, we climbed high into the treetops and scurried up a mountainside!
Wednesday afternoon, after a delicious lunch of sandwiches and soup, we set out into the trees for a scary but fun high ropes adventure. After Counselor Ross gave us instructions, we were ready to climb! A class favorite was the very long zip line that went from a high tower all the way to the other side of the course.
“It felt like you were going to fall to the ground when you stepped off the platform,” said Lilah, but instead we soared through the air with the breeze in our hair!
After a long afternoon of zipping, climbing, and balancing, we headed back to enjoy some recreation time in the Treehouse, the Castle, and the Cave. Then we enjoyed a scrumptious dinner of tacos and birthday cake.
We then split into core groups and set out on a night journey! We were blindfolded and led through the dark to the archery range and the play pirate ship by the lake. We learned about how our eyes work in the dark and let our other senses, like touch and hearing, lead the way through the night. We watched for shooting stars in the bedazzled dome above before heading back to our cabins for a good night’s rest.
On Thursday, we rose early and set off for Black Mountain in nearby New Hampshire. The climb up the mountainside was challenging, but wow were were rewarded for our efforts! The views from the top were extraordinary.
Later that night, we dined on roast chicken, cornbread, and veggies, then played fun games by the fire.
This morning, we’re off to an early start getting packed up and cleaning our cabins. We’ll do one more team-building exercise, and then we’ll hop back on the bus for our journey home. We can’t wait to get back and see everyone we love!
