Follow the Fourth Grade into the Future

On the last day of Fourth Grade, the class buried a time capsule. It is behind the classroom at the end of the wall.

Walk to Cure Diabetes

Dear BCD Community,

To me, being part of a community means supporting, and encouraging others, as well as creating a healthy environment. Yesterday’s event was a true community effort. Thirty-eight community members walked together to support Diabetic Research. Students, teachers, and parents, walked the beautiful trail from BCD to Olivia’s Overlook. The camaraderie, friendship, and support, showed the genuine spirit of the BCD community.

BCD is a magical place, and together we make great things happen. photo1

Follow the Fourth Grade on First Fridays

This is the very last Follow the Fourth Grade on First Fridays (FFGFF)

Editors: Jamie M. and Chase V. with additional help from Abbey B.

Maya

large boarddetail

We have started the Maya game. We are divided into four groups, similar to See the USA. There are four jobs in each groups: Noble Lord, High Priest, Ambassador, and Mathematician. We are all very excited about the game. We had a sacrifice on Wednesday where you gather together valuables and sacrifice them to Chac Mal, one of the rain gods. If Chac Mal likes your sacrifice he will reward you with a lot of corn (and rain).

Lacrosse

Boys-

We have been playing lacrosse for five weeks, and the boys are looking forward to their first game against Lee. In the practice we have to run back and forth a lot, do ground ball drills, and Chumash. Sometimes we play a full field scrimmage. In boys’ lacrosse the sticks have a deeper pocket than in girls’. There is more checking in boys’ lacrosse.

Girls-

The girls also play Chumash. It’s been really fun because it is a new sport for all of us. We do scrimmages with the upper school girls which are really, really fun. We are looking forward to playing a game with the seventh grade against the Steiner team, and we’re also a little scared.

Field trips

On May 8, next Thursday, we are going to the Museum of Science in Boston. We will stay overnight. We will see a Theater of Electricity Lightning! show, science demonstrations, and go to the Omni Theatre. We are all excited about it.

On Monday, May 12 we’re going to Art Omi which has outside sculpture and has a camp in the summer. We will get to make our own sculptures.
