It’s been all about worms during the past few science classes for Grade 1! We went out to our garden and dug up some big healthy earthworms. Students have been observing them to see if they can figure out what body parts a worm has and to see how they move. We did some simple experiments to determine if worms prefer light or dark, moist or dry. Students are learning how worms help our garden. Students have also been bringing fruit and vegetable scraps to class for the 300 red wigglers that are hard at work making compost for us! All this worm talk will soon segue into a unit on soils.
In the picture below students are shining flashlights through the worms to see what is inside!
Amazing – thank you so much for engaging these little minds! I love this insight into your class – thanks!!
