Dear Parents of the First Grade,

Welcome to the French blog where you can read about what your children are doing and learning in French class.  The children are settling into the rhythm of their French lessons and already they are wowing me with their authentic accents and keen memory.

I see the children 3 times a week for 20 minutes.   Our lessons follow a predictable format:  During the first part of our class, we stand and recite seasonal verses and funny finger plays – we count and sing and move.  During the second part of the lesson, we play games that reinforce the vocabulary and grammar that we are learning.  The games are designed to coax the children into a French-speaking world where they laugh at French jokes and play in French.  I look forward to demonstrating some of these lessons at Back-to-School night.  I hope many of you will be able to come!  It is a pleasure to teach your children.

More to come!

Sincerely, Elizabeth Downes
