The second grade class has decided that they want to learn about Mike’s Trail for Science. Several weeks ago, I discovered an old brochure from the 1980’s that described various biological and environmental landmarks of the trial (tree identification, animal activity to look for, etc.). Back when the Trail was created, numbered posts were placed on the trail and they corresponded with info in the brochure. The second graders decided that they wanted to find out which posts still existed and to see if the information in the old brochure was still accurate. On our first trip on the Trail, this is what we learned:
We also learned that it takes 22 minutes and 9 seconds to complete the trail at a steady clip.

We sat down and read the old brochure in detail. Each child was given his/her own copy of the brochure and a pencil in case he/she wanted to take notes.
