We’ve been so busy, with Lower School Mountain Day, Trip to Ioka Valley Farm, Lunch Bunch, and Grandparents and Grand Friends Day all taking place in the last two weeks!
Mountain Day was a huge amount of fun. With the weather cooperating, Kindergarten hiked to the top of Kennedy Park. There they played games and made nature crafts alongside their Lower School friends. We enjoyed a picnic lunch and then hiked back down. Kindergarten did a great job setting the pace on the way back and there were some very tired – but very happy – hikers upon our return.
We had our first Lunch Bunch last week. The class really enjoyed it, and the next day many children asked me if we were having another one right then! Many thanks to Stephen, Wendi, and Kate for preparing a great meal – it was delicious.
Today we had a beloved BCD tradition – Grandparents and Special Friends Day. Earlier in the week, the kindergarten had written and drawn some of the favorite activities that they do with their grandparents. We made it into a book and read it aloud. We also recited four of our favorite poems and everyone created beautiful necklaces out of beads and Sculpey hearts that the children made. It was a wonderful end to a wonderful week!
And finally, last week we journeyed to Ioka Valley Farm with our PreK friends. There we enjoyed picking pumpkins, and had fun on a hay ride, feeding the goats and other animals, riding pedal-style go-carts, and going down the most awesome slide ever (a long PVC pipe!) Thank you to our chaperones, Kate and Emily, for accompanying us on this fun trip. Autumn is so much fun!
