On Tuesday, the Fifth Grade welcomed John Farrell to our homeroom. John is an established storyteller, musician, world traveler, and the founder of Bridges of Peace and Hope, a non-profit organization that connects kids through music all around the world.
The Fifth Grade will be working with John on a new project which involves establishing ties with the Mukuwashi School in Zambia. About a dozen classes from all around the world will be participating in this special opportunity. On Tuesday, John shared with us photos of the Zambian students expressing what their responses to the prompt “What everyone should have is _______”. Our class responded by making posters of our ideas, and these were photographed by John to send by email to the students. John also shared with us a new song he wrote for the project just this week, and asked us to test it out for him.
This spring, the Fifth Grade will continue to develop its relationship with the Mukuwashi students. Stay tuned for more surprises!
Fantastic! Thank you, Dr. L, for helping our kids develop care and consciousness for a better world.
