Students used a variety of different materials (salt, sugar, borax, etc) to create liquids that, when dried, produced some beautiful crystals. Students were asked to carefully read directions and measure.

NBC and the National Science Foundation have teamed up to produce a video series on the science behind many Olympic sports. The content will probably be over the heads of Lower School children – but then again, I’m often amazed at what they can pick up!
Last week the first graders did some experiments to see if four substances dissolved better in hot or cold water. The instant coffee, cocoa, salt and powdered sugar plus water made for a MESS. But boy did we have fun.
