It is very exciting to share that Sara Katzoff, recently the director of BCD’s Fifth and Sixth Grade Winter theater programs, will become the new Theater Director and leader of the Theater Program in Grades One through Nine next year. Her new role at BCD forges a new creative partnership for our school as Sara is currently the co-artistic director of Bazaar Productions and The Berkshire Fringe. A theater maker, writer and performer, Sara has spent the last decade devising, developing and curating new work for the stage. Recent projects include: Everywoman (University at Albany), This Generation, My Generation (Barrington Stage’s Playwright Mentorship Program) WAM Theater’s 10X10on10 (in collaboration with the Upstreet Arts Festival) The Visit Home and Grounded (24 Hour Theater Project); Miss Valentine (Pinto Gallery, NYC); Hurricane Hotel (Daniel Arts Center) and The Waypoint (MASS MoCA, artist in residence). As a performer, Ms. Katzoff has toured nationally with Landis & Company and Dell’Arte and appeared in My Children…. My Africa! (Rattler Productions) Othello (Infamous Genius Theater), Shotgun Wedding, (Dell’Arte Company) 900 Dreams (Spencertown Academy) and DARK: An End of the World Play with Music and an Exercise Bike (Mixed Company). Her original plays include The Scissor Tango Variations, The Stalk, R. Stiltskin and PASSAGE, slated to premier in 2015. Sara has worked with students or all ages, elementary through college. She is a founding company member of Kickwheel Ensemble Theater. A graduate of the Dell’Arte International, she also holds a B.A in performance studies from Bard College at Simon’s Rock.

The 10th Anniversary season of The Berkshire Fringe will take place August 2-August 18 and present over 40 performances, special events and free programs for audiences of all ages in and around the Upstreet Cultural District of Pittsfield, MA. although i remain a huge fan of amy brentano’s, this new teacher sounds absolutely amazing and will add a whole new level of creative hippness to our school. this is really thrilling to get someone like this who is on the cutting edge of the berkshire theatre world and beyond. we are lucky and can’t wait for this! welcome sara!!!
This is a great transition for BCD. Berkshire Fringe does great work and I have no doubt that Sara will replicate that at our school. A nice synergy here.
