Founded in 1946, BCD has long been a pillar in the academic community in the Berkshire and Columbia counties. BCD graduates have gone on to success at secondary schools including Phillips Exeter Academy, Millbrook, Northfield Mount Herman, and the Berkshire School, in addition to area public schools. BCD is home to a 26 acre campus and offers four playing fields, the Cole Field Sport Court, multiple play areas, gardens, as well as groomed Nordic Ski trails and hiking trails.

BCD’s progressive academic curriculum challenges and inspires our students with an intentional approach of inquiry, discovery, and discussion blending proven methods with emerging best practices. Our signature programs of social emotional learning, outdoor learning, and civics action begin with our youngest students and carry through the Eighth Grade curriculum.
