This week in the library, First Grade enjoyed a classic Rudyard Kipling story, Rikki-Tikki-Tavi. This story tells of the heroic efforts of a mongoose (a cousin to the meerkat!) to protect and save a human family and the inhabitants of their garden from a pair of villanous king cobras. Kipling, who lived in India until the age of 5, weaves in turn-of-the-century language and cultural images into this adventure tale. We concluded with book-browsing and checkout. Happy Reading!
