Faculty members at BCD cultivate confidence, excitement, and skills in students so that they can become creative learners and critical thinkers. Our distinctive program and commitment to excellence engages and supports individuals who are passionate about teaching. These teachers encourage originality, model leadership, and impact each student in meaningful ways that extend well beyond the classroom.

Working collaboratively across divisions and disciplines, BCD faculty members are constantly looking for ways to improve the learning experience for their students and the teaching experience for themselves.

As we look back on the wonderful 2012/2013 school year and look ahead to the year to come, we are highlighting the work of newer faculty members who have made remarkable contributions to the school.

Joe Katz in the Woodshop
Rejoining the BCD faculty this year as the shop teacher, Joe Katz engaged and delighted students in Grades 4 through 9. Walking into the shop during class, a visitor could expect to encounter a room filled with busy students, working on a variety of projects in various stages of completion. They built thumb pianos, puppets, jewelry, sculptures, race cars, boats, and totems.
Their projects were interdisciplinary marvels of form and function that put their knowledge into practice. Mr. Katz brought his own sense of aesthetics and artistry to this year’s shop class and we can’t wait to see what next year’s classes create!
