Conscious Conversations

At Berkshire Country Day School, we believe that children have a right to a promising future, and adults have a responsibility to discuss this. To provide a safe environment for exploring this notion, Berkshire Country Day School has launched “Conscious Conversations,” a salon-like series of public talks around the most pertinent issues children will have to face in the future.

The five-part series is designed to engage parents and community members around such topics as the environment, education, and citizenship. We invite adults in the wider community to share questions and observations and to offer suggestions to help navigate the world today. Ideally, this dialog will lead to activities at home and at school that equip kids with the skills they’ll need to begin solving the problems they will inherit.

In hosting these regular discussions, BCD hopes to equip parents with a toolkit of ideas for ways their children can begin to be conscious citizens and confident problem solvers. The School also hopes the salon will give local parents a venue to meet new people, share wisdom, and have meaningful conversation.

Refreshments will be served. RSVPs appreciated.

“Engaging Green Youth: How can children make a difference in saving Planet Earth?”

We look forward to convening a group of “green machines” and interested parents and community members to discuss taking care of planet earth in the Berkshires and beyond. Together we hope to discover how together, we and various organizations in the area can amplify our actions with and for youth and offer more opportunities to our students and children in the community. Our hopes are to share ways we engage our students in green efforts, to learn more about what other groups do, and to consider ways to build partnerships.

We invite you to join us in this conversation and opportunity to network, as we meet to discuss current green initiatives for children in our community. Outcomes from this discussion will present ideas for how our community can connect with other groups to develop partnerships in the area of service-learning and other means of action and involvement.

This event is free and open to the public. We welcome you to bring your friends or colleagues and to share this open invitation with others who you feel would be relevant and connected to this Conscious Conversation.
