Substitute Teachers

Berkshire Country Day School, a PK-9 independent school located between Lenox and Stockbridge, is ready to expand our team! We are interviewing potential substitute teachers for the 2015-16 school year and beyond. Typically, substitute positions are daily or short-term tenures, but they are also a great way to experience teaching across multiple age groups and/or subject areas at a terrific school with great kids.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate an ability to mentor, motivate, and engage students. Previous classroom teaching experience is desired, but not required.

Music Teacher
Berkshire Country Day School, a PK-9 independent school located in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, seeks a general and vocal Music Teacher for students in grades PK-9. Berkshire Country Day School values the arts; therefore the successful candidate will:

  • have experience teaching at the elementary and/or middle level(s)
  • possess extensive knowledge of current music curricula, scope and sequence, and assessment strategies
  • teach a general music program to students in grades PK to 6
  • direct two choral groups, grades 1-3 and grades 4-6
  • offer music electives to grades 7-9 (i.e. a capala, music ensemble, digital music, etc.)
  • exhibit a broad knowledge of a wide variety of music genres
  • be a skilled vocalist and pianist
  • incorporate creative play and movement in activities
  • develop students’ music skills, using recorders, drums and Orff instruments
  • facilitate the development of a lifetime appreciation of music for all students
  • schedule and oversee a private instrumental music program
  • demonstrate excellent classroom management skills
  • attend faculty meetings and other school functions as necessary and required

Spanish Teacher

Berkshire Country Day School, a PK-9 independent school located in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, is accepting applications for a full-time teacher of Spanish.  Qualified applicants will be:

  • able to teach from beginning/introductory to advanced levels of Spanish to students in grades PK-9
  • a dynamic, creative individual with teaching experience and proven success in program and curriculum development
  • able to weave cultural competence into the curriculum and classroom current with trends and developments in language instruction
  • able to thrive in a work environment where collaboration is highly valued
  • experienced in integrating technology into the curriculum

Required Experience:

  • prior experience teaching at the elementary and/or middle school level
  • native or near-native fluency in Spanish
  • ability to think broadly and innovatively about curriculum and pedagogy
